Whether it’s truly of curiosity or mere audacity to question her, she’s unsure, but nonetheless she’s rather annoyed by his decision to challenge. After all, this behavior isn’t terribly unusual-- it is the second time she has chosen to bestow him with this: an obvious symbol of gratitude; once for accepting her into the party, now for forgiving her of previous actions.

Isn’t it normal by the East’s standards to do this sort of thing? Even if he is from Nibelheim, he totes some type of affinity for Midgar and its edges. She assumes he is more comfortable with its customs as well.
