Eclipse

So, we planned on going south of St Louis to view, but the cloud cover was getting thicker as we went further east. We turned around and went back to kingdom city mo where there was a patch of blue sky. But when we got about 45 min from totality, here come the cloud. Ugh. So we chased the blue sky to the south east. We had no idea where we were going, lost gps/coverage briefly, and ended up at a tiny country cemetery and church. @papasdeathblossom was my navigator.

The light got dimmer. There was a faint sun dog around the sun. The temperature began to drop. Some unfamiliar bird went nuts nearby then it got quiet. For about a minute or two. The lights came on around the church. Then the crickets and cicadas went nuts. Just before totality the church sign lit up. …. it said “sharing gods light” which made us all giggle because the timing was pretty cool. Then it happened and it wasn’t all white like I was expecting. There was faint color to it that made it appear iridescent or opalescent. It was magic.

So I checked on the banner this morning on my way to work. Someone pulled it up onto the sidewalk, so I kicked out back down. Haha.

Sorry - fuzzy as hell, driving and taking pictures don’t really go together...

Then I looked at my gas gauge oops haha ..

Got gas, went to work...

Then @atomickola texts me between her zoo shadowing and school that it is still there and ok.…

She pointed out the plain white semi truck on the interstate - hahaha!!
