how do you go about choosing a symbol for your trolls? Is it like choosing a name: lots of flailing and eventually settling?

Well, if I have an idea for horns already, I usually make it similar to the horn shape. However! If I don’t, I take something in their inspiration or personality, and turn it into a symbol.

A really simple example of this would be Flinik’s. It’s just a magnifying glass, but that’s because his original inspiration was Sherlock Holmes. 

Gaelan, when originally created, is based off of a water guardian or spirit, and we talked a lot about how he liked floating on the waves, so his symbol looks like a wave.

Masari has a ‘split’ theme to her entire character and appearance, so her symbol is a shape that has been split jaggedly in two.

A more complex example might be Sieben. He can create duplicates of himself, so his symbol is a central shape that has bits that appear to be ‘splitting away’. uvu Really, I use different factors each time in picking a symbol. 

As for a name, I actually do something similar. I pick words that describe them and find names that have a similar meaning to that and twist them into 6 letters, or I take something from their inspiration and turn it into a 6 letter name.

Flinik’s last name, Kashif, means ‘knowledge seeker’. I was lucky and it was already 6 letters.

Masari, though, was based off of the Hopi Skeleton Man, Masauwu, and I twisted it a bit and cut it down.

Sieben’s entire name is from the title of the book in which the word ’doppelganger' was first used, 'Siebenkas.' I took the first bit, and then added the first three letters to the last three for his last name.

Fun facts from Blue!! I have learned a lot about my character creation ideas from Silver, though, so I can’t take a ton of credit. He’s also helped me with several of my trolls’ symbols and names. (Silver is A+, but you knew that already hehe)

Yo compadres i need some help. I'm trying to make a fantroll based off of this symbol (there isnt a whole lot of info i know but i've been looking else where as well) and I wanted to make an older redish-brown blood female i guess. I'm not too good with the whole fantroll thing and i'm fixing like 30 others while trying to make new ones (wowie im a genius) but yeah.

Name: Hazmat Anceps

Blood Color: Mutant - Glow in the dark (uses pale green font)

Title: Knight of Void

World: Land of Toxins and Tremors

Trollian: contaminationBane

Lusus: A mutated frog-lusus with five legs and 3 eyes

Strife: poisonbladekind

Horns: They look like they're melting across his head

Quirk: he mmelts his letters annd doesnnt bother wwith punnctuationn

Interests: Poison, horror films, flowers

Personality: Hazmat is a rather self-centered troll who takes great pleasure in his poisonous night-flower garden. He grows all types of plants and waters them with special liquids he mixes up in his laboratory to make them more poisonous. It's his proudest achievement. He's extremely enthusiastic about anything that involves flowers or poison. What he'd most like to do is write and direct a horror movie in his own backyard, using all his plants.

Giggle's ancestor is titled Laughter and was a rampaging murderer around the time of the sufferer, who pretty much decimated high-blooded trolls. Admittedly, no one would claim he was a believer in the teachings... but he did them a favor, in a way, at least for a time. But his violence resulted in his death as well, when he ate the moirail of a highblooded troll and was quite quickly destroyed.

Dancestor is still in progress. XD SRSLY considering the name Guffaw. UM. Yep. I'm being a bad person again, fyi.
