The Faraday Future FFZERO1 concept hit the scene, ans everyone was taken by surprise by a somewhat Tron-looking vehicle, with the difference being that this might actually hit the streets someday. The official introduction lead to some speculations that Batman might be hiding this in his garage, already. Moving to more serious matters, Faraday Future’s all-electric concept has been envisioned as a race car of the future.
As such, it makes use of a very sleek body, completely designed by aerodynamics. The company aims at launching this as a competitor, a serious one from what I’ve seen, for Tesla – and the FFZERO1 takes things seriously. Benefiting from a carbon fiber and composite construction, the concept should be light enough to brag about it, although no official numbers have been spoken.
This is a single-seater, resembling one of Vision Gran Turismo’s incredible concepts people love so much, but the digital realm will not be able to contain this one. According to Faraday Future, the supercar will also feature a high-tech racing suspension. the company’s Variable Platform Architecture (VPA), centrally positioned modular batteries, as well as four electric motors generating a combined output of over 1,000 hp. As a result, the driver will be enjoying – supposedly – a 0 to 60 mph (96 km\h) time of less than 3 seconds and a 200-mph top speed.
Inside the cabin, the driver was positioned at a 45-degree angle, to improve blood circulation as well as comfort. Being that this is a 21st century racing concept, the car’s functions and features are controlled through a smartphone docked in the center of the steering wheel – not very smart, since you should be focused on the track and the cars around you. The Faraday Future FFZERO1 is said to be capable of full autonomous mode, both on the roads and at the racetrack, which kinda ruins it for me; racing is supposed to be a human controlled activity, dangerous and enjoyable at the same time. Other than that, nothing but a big ‘thumb up’.
