oh so apparently i'm supposed to ask for DETAILS ON YOUR HORSE.
The horse is a chemical engineer working for a pharmaceutical company. He is working with a team to find a synthesis path for an essential protein which elderly ponies’ bodies produce diminished amounts of. Although they have found a functional synthesis path for the protein, it involves a very expensive reagent which is not practical for the mass-market pharmaceuticals that the company manufactures, and they are therefore trying to find a workaround to replace this reagent. My horse researches similar synthesis paths to try to find such a workaround, but their chain is very complex and it is a challenge to find a substitute reagent (or series of reagents) which will produce the same results as the expensive reagent.
