It's finally time for me to get this blog up and moving. I've been putting it off for a long time. Why? Who knows...busy, too much to say, not enough to say, any 100000th of excuses. Well, life sometimes makes you take a shift and make things happen. That's a good thing! Many of you that follow us on Facebook have been wondering and asking when you were going to see some posts.
About a month ago I was approached by a very talented culinary expert and food writer/blogger Heather Jones of The Blacker the Berry Food to be a contributing writer for her blog. I was honored to be selected with such other distinguished culinary experts. I enjoy writing and have tons of journals to prove it, it's taken a long time for me to get fingers and keyboard lined up to do it. (I think it's called lazy). I hope you will begin to enjoy what you will see here on Meat me at the Grill and on The Blacker the Berry Food. You will find information about everything Culinary and especially Smoked meats and Healthy Foods! Occasionally, you may see a few posts of my obsession with gourmet kitchens, actually a lot of it. Cooking happens in kitchens right? Future post on that later. You'll also find me introducing you to many of my other Culinary and foodie friends and the work their doing in the field.
I guess you could say, it was perfect timing to introduce to many and re-introduce to others our catering business which we recently re-launched "Meat me at the Grill Catering", actually a year ago. Here you will keep informed on what's going on in our world of Catering, Healthy and Sustainable Meat and Food products and yes many planned Give aways from some great sponsors.
Chris (aka BBQman-hubby) and I have been in the Culinary Industry for nearly 20 years. We started our catering business in November of 1993 smoking and deep-frying Turkey's and Hams for the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays in Southern Illinois. The catering business took off and people requested more of our smoked meats throughout the year and wanted sides to go with them. A few year's later Brother Disroe's BBQ Rib Shack opened in 1997.
We had a successful couple of years in business, but we were ready for a change geographically and decided to move to Atlanta, Ga in 1999. We continued the catering business for a few years and then my husband took a break for a while and moved into the Automotive Industry. In 2007, my husband suffered two strokes, but that didn't stop him one bit. After several years off we decided to Re-launch our business under a new name. Over the years, my husband would always tease with the fella's, OK, "Meet me at the Grill" and I will show you how it's really done! I said, why not use that as our new name.
Our desire is to delight young and old in healthy grilled foods. In partnering with the American Stroke and Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association we hope to inspire more people into eating a healthier diet. I'm not suggesting stop eating Pork or Beef, but select the organic and farm-raised meats. It's not always easy...but if you're committed, you can do it one bite at a time.
