This memory starts over half a century ago in the wheat fields of Northwest Oklahoma about 20 miles away from a town named after the Arapaho Chief Watonga, meaning “Black Coyote”. The only way to this farm is on a dusty red dirt road, but don't worry and stay on it, that road will take you home to a small farm in Blaine County. - This farmer and son never shirked a task and did what they could for their family to a fault. The farmer and his son began their days with Mom's famous biscuits topped with Grandma's famous sand plum jelly and the day normally ended with joking and laughter over a supper table telling Mom about how their days went. - Around this time of year you'd leave the doors open and crack the windows at night to cool down the house for the next day and make fresh sun tea at noon... and it was time to plow again. The boy was told which field to plow that day and he grabbed his Bologna sandwich and a glass bottle of Coke and headed out to race the sunset. - It'd been a wet year and you can ask any Farmer, the most embarrassing things on a farm happen next to the main road... Every time... AND the boy got too close to the cow pond and sank the plow with the tractor... deep. - The boy started that long walk of shame back to the farmhouse to break the bad news and the farmer loaded him up in the truck to have a look. The tractor was stuck as bad as described and he asked his Dad if he'd ever had one that he couldn't get unstuck with a real worried and shaky voice. My Grandpa looked at my Dad and asked him, “Do you see any half buried tractors in the dang pasture son? Use your head and phone the neighbors to come help.” 2 tractors and 2 neighbors later the sunk tractor had been freed and my Dad breathed a sigh of relief. - And I shot milk out of my nose when my Grandpa told me about all the shenanigans my Dad used to get himself into and Pray that my kids don't find out about mine lol. . #farm #farmlife #farmdad #agriculture #grandpastories #farmer #country #countrylife #rural #oklahomaphotographer #abandonedbarn #tractor #plow #plowlife #watonga #harvest #VFW #johndeere #farmboy #bustedlenz #rancher #horses #wheat #hay #garydon (at Watonga, Oklahoma) https://www.instagram.com/p/B0THpkDhWEH/?igshid=3lrricf5iiyp
