When they said Portugal had a lot of red tape I don’t think we quote understood how much .. I guess it’s also the fact that everyone tells you a different story lol. So your tax number (NIF) is your fiscal number and without it you are literally dead man walking. You can’t do anything with it - get insurance for your car, get WiFi, like nix - so it’s been our big priority as the car is still in the previous owners name as we can’t insure it. She has been very understanding so that’s at least a good thing. We think we have maaaaaaybe now finally got it right (been trying for a week) so yes please hold fingers and toes that we get step one done which is the certificate to say we are now living here then we can take that to the Finanças office and get the NIF. Strangely if you come here on a UK passport and bring proof of address in the UK you can get it in about 15 mins 🤨. We started looking at a couple of properties and saw one we really like 😍 as in all 4 of us like it ... so let’s see what happens. It’s actually one that we saw on YouTube while we were still in London! It is near Fundão and has a nice mixture of forest, terraced olive trees, flat pasture and also space to plant veggies etc. There is also a cool bar and pool close to it which serves food and drink and is dirt cheap. We had 2 ice teas, 6 beers, 2 cokes, Moelas, toasted cheese & ham and 2 hot dogs for €18! We are going to look at a few more places on Monday in Penamacor but think we will defo have a second look here. We went back to Castelo to shop at Auchan which has brilliant prices and so much variety. I mean when you have your pick of 100 types of chorizo you know you in Portugal 😂
