a few weeks go by and clint cant seem to shake bucky from his mind. his laugh's been stuck in his head. but then one day bucky comes back w/ steve (his retriever that clint tried very hard to get him to name something else bc steve? what kind of name is steve for a dog?) "can I help you?" "steve seems lonely. I was wondering if him and lucky could have a playdate?" lucky, sitting next to clint, jumps up and starts chasing steve. "one condition," clint says, "you and I get to have a real date"

it takes a long time but by the end of the day, Bucky, as Clint finds out is the name of the man, decides that the golden retriever that's been in the shelter for a while is the dog he wants. Lucky and the golden retriever run around both Bucky and Clint as Clint signs the paperwork. "You got good taste." Bucky looks up at Clint. "In dogs." the retriever runs into Bucky's leg as he's chasing his tail. Bucky laughs, for the first time all day and Clint smiles. he loves making ppl happy

"what do you mean he's your dog?" the dog turns to Clint and sits beside him, nudging his hand so Clint will pet him. "I don't like leaving him at home" the man shrugs his shoulders "Figures I'd pick the wrong dog." "Lucky's not wrong. He's the perfect dog, even for a big ol' grump like you" "I'm not grumpy." "Dude, you're grumpy" Lucky barks again, almost in agreement. "Doesn't mean we can't find you the right dog though." Clint motions for the man to follow him so he can show him more dogs

"that's not the dog you want" clint says. "why not?" the man asks. he looks at the dog. he's older and he's beaten up. only has one eye and a bandage on his tail. the dog sits up and wags his tail and barks happily. "he seems to like me enough." "Dude, you can't have this dog." Clint opens the cage, expecting the dog to tackle him but instead the dog jumps up on the man. he pets the dog and allows him to lick his hand. "looks like he wants me though." "he's my dog. you can't take my dog."

clint volunteers at an animal shelter. bucky, who just came back from a long, draining tour in the army, comes in one day. clint's skeptical bc this dude looks rough w/ his long hair and circles under his eyes that make clint believe this dude's killed a man. but he says he wants a dog so clint has to take him to see the dogs. clint tries to sell every dog they see but nope he's not having it. clint's about to just give up when the guy walks up to an older mutt.

He thought asking him out was nerve racking but this, this was 100 times worse. They were sitting across from each other at the restaurant. "Are you not talking because you're afraid you'll faint again?" "I did not faint." "Clint, yes you did. I was there. It's okay. It was... cute." The waiter brought their food and once they started eating Clint started to loosen up. What was he even nervous for? They ate, talked, drank, it was nice. Perfect even. Part 3

Clint loved having Bucky as a friend. He thought that's all he wanted. Then Natasha saw Clint and Bucky as they were walking back to their rooms after a mission. She told him to ask him out. Since Nat's never wrong, there he was, walking up to Bucky, slowly, a little bit sweaty. Bucky looked up at him and smiled. "Hey Clint" Clint threw the flowers he had been hiding behind his back into Bucky's lap. "I think you're great. Go out with me?" "Okay." Bucky smiled up at him. Clint passed out. Part 2
