Imagine fighting for your own land that was grabbed from you, fenced in, by a huge fruit export business, and after six years finally having a government that supports your cause, that stands against your oppression, that stands with you in your struggle. You finally reclaim your land from #Lapanday, but now the #Lorenzos are suing the agrarian reform secretary who had assisted you in getting your land back, and suing him for -- of all things -- oppression and abuse of authority, because he helped farmers who have suffered exactly that from oligarchs, landlords, big business. Elite Violence. This was part of the fortified fences that the #Lorenzos of #Lapanday built to keep farmers away from land they rightfully owned, which yesterday the farmers finally reclaimed after six years, with the support of DAR Sec #KaPaengMariano and President #Duterte. Today, the Lorenzos announced they were filing a criminal case against #KaPaeng for committing grave misconduct, conduct prejudicial to the best interest of service, and oppression / grave abuse of authority in having assisted in returning these lands to the farmers, a case that can only be a measure of the delusion of power of this elite, the kind of impunity they've gotten away with for decades. We don't need an essay published in an international publication to tell us of oppression in this country.
