#Fast4FOIA - Day Eight
I experienced painful hunger pains last night as I waited to watch “Feud” on FX. I think having nothing to do and just waiting made it worse. I was not mindful to take the baking soda and water mixture before going to bed, so my acid reflux woke me up in the middle of the night.
Breakfast. I keep experimenting to discover when is the best time to take prune juice. Today, I decided to take a little bit more than a cup in the morning, before I fixed my first cup of coffee. I had a second cup of coffee, followed by a cup of low-calorie Gatorade. I had to take an aspirin, bc I got a headache this morning.
I think most of my weight loss is taking place at night, whilst I sleep. I say this, because I seem the notice the most drastic changes in my body in the mornings. In the beginning, I estimate I was maybe consuming about 300 or 400 calories per day, if you count a cup of coffee at about 60 calories, and almost no calories for the very lightly sweetened iced tea. I use small cups that I think barely fit 8 fl. oz. if you fill them to the very top, which I never do. The can of Campbell’s chicken broth soup only has 50 calories. Since I added the prune juice and the low-calorie Gatorade, I have added another 100 or 200 calories per day, I would estimate. I say this with hesitation, bc the prune juice has about 170 calories per 8 fl. oz., but I’m not sure the calories for the prune juice count on the day when it works, since I don’t see it having any nutritional value when it works as it should (to induce a bowel movement). There’s only 20 calories in an 8 fl. oz. cup of low-calorie Gatorade. Yesterday was, by far, the most difficult day I have had with this liquids-only fast. I expereinced pain when my stomach was grumbling and churning, but there was nothing to churn. I took a cup of low-calorie Gatorade last night when my stomach began to grumble, but it did nothing to make my stomach rest. I just had to wait for the grumbling to stop on its own.
Lunch. I fixed myself another cup of coffee before noon, and I took my chicken broth soup at 1:30. I used to be able to hold out until much later in the afternoon, but no longer. In the two hours after I finished my soup, I drank two cups of coffee, so I could stay alert. I feel like I am over-relying on coffee for “energy.” But, really, I have no choice. I would be in bed all day if I wasn’t drinking coffee. Because my headache never fully went away, I took another aspirin with my coffee.
Dinner. I fixed a cup of coffee, and I drank three cups of low-calorie Gatorade. It feels like I drank more calories today, because of all the coffee I drank. I think I’m trying to compensate for how much less energy I have.
