"This Ramadan must rank as the most hateful in recent memory. None of the virtues of solidarity and empathy so often associated with fasting could withstand the plague of enmity." - Ahmad Fuad Rahmat in The Malaysian Insider
Angelia Ong shared on her blog her #Fast4Malaysia experience, and the conversations she had with her children (there were some interesting and heartwarming ones - click here to read her post).
Her son, j2, also participated - he fasted for half a day (and wrote his own note about his experience in the image above).
"We had croissants with mascarpone (from our raw milk suppliers-review on that later!), mango (given by our inlaws the day before), j2 had a chocolate muffin as well . We also had 2-3 glasses of water, as suggested by Auntie Zasz
He decided to read a book and stay up, while I went back to sleep.
I had given the kids the option to have a water only fast, if they wanted and I had said they don’t have to join in if they didn’t want to, j1 and k couldn’t wake up (j1 didnt want to join in this year anyway) so it was just j2 and I
"
Chee Ching, who designed our lovely #Fast4Malaysia graphic, drew some comic self-portraits on her blog about her experience fasting for the first time.
From Rev Sivin Kit in Norway "I did fast just slightly over 12 hours ... :-) but not like 3am to 10pm. I broke fast meditatively alone after the family had their dinner after 8pm. My kids asked the about the fasting, so besides sharing with them bits and pieces about the experience, e.g. How it must be challenging for our Muslim fiends in Norway, I made the link back to Malaysia and friends back home. Nothing profound, just simple dialogue nuggets so they can be included. I rewarded myself later with my favorite Norwegian chips!"
Here are some pixs of buka puasa at my house on 31 July. Friends who came: Sandra Sodhy, Santha Oorjitham, Sanggat Singh from Malaysian Interfaith Network (MIN), artist/actor Phillip Wong, Ahmad Yazid & graphic artist Megat. - Zuriah Aljeffri (via email)
UK, and the rest of the world, closes #Fast4Malaysia
"So I cheated and had my sahur of Oreos and water at 8.30 am (getting up at 5 am to eat is not an option for me, sorry) this morning. 6 and a half hours into my one-off fast and despite the cheat I am already dying omg. How Muslims do it for 30 days, especially Muslims in the northern hemisphere who have to do it for nearly 20 hours in the summer, I have no idea but they have earned extra respect from me from now on. Test of self-control indeed. #fast4malaysia"
It's not the hunger that kills you but the thirst how do people do this omg #fast4malaysia

It's August 1 in Malaysia
I am signing off from updating this site for the day. I'll return tomorrow to post anything else I can find online.
Naturally, all the postings you see on this site are just a representative of the hundreds (maybe thousands) of posts out there - blogs, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
There were so many positive tweets in support for #Fast4Malaysia. Thank you everyone for your support.
Just remember, there are some people who are still fasting as I write this. Two that I know off are in Norway and in the US. It's long days there so we stand in solidarity with them.
Good night for now.
Niki
