According to designer Nancy Ricci, this is a great little project that can make a fast gift. Her skinny version uses only 40 yards of a chunky/bulky yarn. Many Ravelry users have used Misti Alpaca Handpaints Chunky, Berroco Peruvia Quick, Malabrigo Rasta, and Cascade Baby Alpaca Chunky to knit this.
That means, for the skinny version, you could get almost 3 from the Misti Alpaca, two and a half from Berroco Peruvia Quick, 2 from Rasta, and nearly 3 from the Cascade Baby Alpaca Chunky. See? That's a great gift because you can use awesome yarn and stretch it a long way! :o)
It's never too early to start knitting for this Christmas. (I need to start taking my own advice! haha)
