Siempre me ha fascinado esa mirada lacónica de Elizabeth Siddall retratada por Jonhn Everett Millais en su obra "La Mártir de Solway" 1871. Una mezcla de pena y resignación que estos días me ha rondado y de ahí que surgiera este boceto rápido a lápiz. Y al volver a ver el cuadro en tuiter, he sentido la necesidad de plasmarlo. La historia de esta obra trata de que en 1685, a causa de su negativa a reconocer la Iglesia oficialmente establecida en Escocia, Margaret Wilson fue acusada de brujería y condenada a morir ahogada por la subida de la marea, siendo encadenada en las rocas de Solway. El autor, realizó también un grabado con el mismo tema. El estudio radiológico del cuadro descubre que la figura originalmente fue pintada desnuda de cintura para arriba, siendo posteriormente "vestida" para no irritar las sensibilidades victorianas de la época. He is the founder of OOAK Forge (One Of A Kind Forge) where he makes knives, slingshots, “pizza slayers”, and other odds and ends and works of art of incredible craftsmanship. I had my friend Will, of @bensonblades stop in for an impromptu portrait last week. If I’m being honest, it was really hard to take a bad photo of him. I mean, look at those cheek bones! And though you can’t really see it in these black and white photos, his blue eyes were popping in this one light set up.
