𝐨𝐡 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 , 𝐢𝐟 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐞𝐰 . lips curve upwards softly , and he tugs her closer to him . strong arms envelop her , nose buries in soft , blonde tresses . breath comes slow and soft , lips push forward to press a kiss to the top of her head , as fingertips extend to draw gentle patterns on the skin of her arm . ‘‘ all the time in the world , and it still won’t be enough . ’’ a simple loving statement , [ . . . ] but it holds a 𝚚𝚞𝚒𝚎𝚝 𝚑𝚞𝚖 𝚘𝚏 𝚝𝚛𝚞𝚝𝚑 . ( he knows that curfew is bearing down on them . it won’t be long now . ) the next breath that escapes him is unmistakably a sigh , but he tightens his hold just a little , and pushes away the pressing threat . ‘‘ but , ’’ he adds , a gentle tease sneaking into his tone , peppering kisses across her face . ‘‘ we can make the most of it . ’’

most of the school was in the great hall . dinner was in full swing , the tables no doubt decorated with golden plates of mashed potato , roast meats , and steamed vegetables . just thinking about it causes lily’s stomach to get out a low gurgle . she hadn’t eaten since lunch , and can only hope their scheme would last for the whole of dinner . otherwise she’ll be feasting on the month old chocolate frog lost underneath her bed .

❝ you really think peeves will fall for this ? ❞ her arms are laden with filibuster fireworks . purchased especially for this escapade . a loud , ghostly cackle echos from down the hall , followed by a loud crash and the sound of filch swearing . lily crouches down behind the wall , peeping around the corner . white teeth bite down on her bottom lip to hold back a laugh at the sight of the caretaker covered in some kind of inky substance . even from their hide out lily can hear him muttering about how long it will take him to clean , about how he’s going to get rid of peeves once and for all . lily glances over at marlene . ❝ if filch catches us we’re so dead ! ❞
