Day 7 of being in a band: Pretend that it isn’t 1:25 am on day eight and that I didn’t forget to post yesterday. Seven days! A week, even. Happy one week to Fatal Romantics. Let’s cut to the chase: We’re making great progress on the Daddy’s Little Princess demo. If it’s good enough, maybe we can release it as its own single. Or maybe we’ll get so productive that we write an album. We can work more on the vocals tomorrow, but me and Vendetta are making some excellent lyrics. It’ll be fun.

It’s a demo, which means it’s not finished. We want to bring every part of our music-making progress to you all, not hiding any imperfections from our audience. This is why we shared our latest demo, even if the vocals aren’t perfect. From the beginning, V said “That’s what makes this band so different, we don’t hide our voice, we show all of them.” She posted the demo to our TikTok, where I’m currently fending off some unsupportive comments (”never release this, keep it a demo” etc) but whatever. TikTok isn’t known for supporting the alternative music scene, or any music scene for that matter. All this to say, thank you to everyone who enjoys our music and reading our updates. Me and Vendetta had a great song-writing session last night, and feel that a more complete demo will be on the way soon.

day 8 of being in a band: we had another practice today, all of our effort is going into the demo of Daddy’s Little Princess. my lines are supposed to be whispered harshly, which is a little difficult tbh. im having this issue where my voice already isn’t that deep, so it sounds a lot more feminine when im whisper-singing and its making me feel a little weird haha. the whispering is kind of awkward but i just have to work on it more i guess. we’re trying this new thing where me and V scream combatting lines, and the transition from whispering to screaming is something i’ll work on more. 

every day i pick/my brain picks a very specific aspect of the early 2000′s alternative music scene to focus on, today its been AFYCSO era Panic! at The Disco. Ryan Ross totally has me beat on lyrics, and though a couple people say we look alike, I could never be him. 

going off this: on whatever album we end up putting out, it’ll be very clear who’s leading each song. my stuff sounds like something pete wentz wouldve wrote or wouldve signed in 2005, and V’s very straight-forward and autobiographical. don’t get me wrong, i’m autobiographical too, but my story is woven between and hidden underneath a dozen different metaphors and references.

day… 9? 10? of being in a band: I’ve lost track! I stay up late on my days off and wake up early for my days on, time proves meaningless until august rolls around. Not much to update on for today, but I will say I don’t care what genre we are. I’ll personally define us by whatever song we’re working on. And if I write an emo concept album, what of it? It’ll be spectacular.
