Raising Awareness. This past month several students mentioned how awful shopping for clothing can be if your a larger person. 8 Limbs is here to help. Learn to sew for yourself is one way to have fun and ensure great fit and proper style. #fatdoctor says it best
Not PCOS...but
My Fat Doctor recently did blood work for PCOS which is confirmed that I do not have. BUT my adrenal levels are high so finally being referred to the Endrocrine doctors to run additional tests. Hoping to get some answers.
...and now.
In the last 15 years I have slowly watched my weight increase and no one can figure out why.
I have always been a health conscious eater, preferring natural and simple to overprocessed and heavy foods. Over the last 15 years I have tried going to the gym (4-5 days a week for 6 months) and hired a trainer to no avail. I am even now seeing a weight management specialist who I refer to as the “Fat Doctor”.
I recently stopped seeing my trainer due to the cost and lack of results. While I have decreased fat and increased lean mass, I have not lost 1lb the 7 months. While I am happy that I have gained muscle and lost fat, I had hoped to see more results after dedicating so much time, energy and money.
I am still going to the fat doctor and tweaking my diet based on the plans I was given. I am following the Paleo diet because it fits what I already eat.
I know one of my main issues is lack of exercise, but with joints that hyperextend my options are limited. At least when it comes to increasing my heart rate to the point of being effective at losing weight.
The Fat Doctor is also running blood tests to check for PCOS but I was tested for that many times between the ages of 24-26 when the weight gain first started.
The “go to exercise” doctors and trainers use for overweight people is walking. While I enjoy a nice walk, my body is capable of so much more. A friend fixed my (cheap) bike last week and I have found a new passion. I have already done a 11+ mile ride and plan to do another tomorrow. I am making sure to take time off to let my underused muscles rest but I think I have finally found something that will work.
I have a new helmet and ordered a hydration pak so that I make sure I have enough water for those long rides.
