the wonders of the world could never compare to the love in my heart when I know you are there. the stars in the sky could never shine so bright as the smile on your face when I hold your hand. the richness of the world could never hold me the same as your laugh when I make a dumb joke.

the night falls sooner and the day arrives late, the tree leaves splinter and frost thrives. as most of the world goes to sleep, a season leaves and another arrives. falling snow upon red little noses, giggles of joy and snowball fights. playing through the entire day and in the sky shine the northern lights.

wishes upon dandelions, or shooting stars, or coins in the fountains. requests to genies, or witches in huts, or crossroad demons. they're all the same at the very end, an end to your life. all magic has a cost, equal to your desire, or a higher price. wishes for more time, or riches and beauty, or attention from all. a curse of immortality, a quick sudden death, a stalker you can't see. be careful what you wish for.

darklight, dark night, darkest of times, the moon does not shine tonight. like buried under the heavy dirt, like rocks fallen onto the world, the stars crashed into the ground. we spoke of this once upon a time, said the end of the world was upon us, and expected time to simply cease at the end of the millennium, or the end of that calender, or the 20s crisis in every century. the many spots upon history that the blacklight shines upon, darklight exposing the darkest of times.

if I stand in your shadow it is not a hardship, it is an honor. standing in your shadow means standing behind you where you stand in the light. your shadow covers a lot from big to small and I stand within it. your shadow as a community holding precious people safe at your back.

poets do not have to be elegant, they can be downright dirty, wading through the mud, crawling into the forest.
they write a poem from themself, from their heart or soul, whatever words come to mind.
that's poetry.
your thoughts, your feelings, your heart.

Shh, careful there, don't turn that corner! Duck under the cobwebs and run away. You wouldn't want to get caught, now, run quickly from the end of the day.
The moon rising into a starlit sky, children giggling in monstrous looks, careful which you give your candy, the real ones might get you in their hooks.
Just kidding, it's a simple costume, don't be afraid of tricksters wanting treats. It's time to celebrate this dark night, with all the others wandering the streets.
Wishing you a glorious Halloween, a night of thrilling fun and delight, of all the snacks you could carry throughout this celebrated night.
-- Happy Halloween!
