The problem with this vision of “doing the best I can” is that it really isn’t good enough. It leaves all the most difficult responsibilities of parenthood, financial and disciplinary, up to mothers. Edin and Nelson conclude that “lower-class fathers have tried to bargain for a wholesale reversal of gender roles,” in which dads are the “soft,” emotional parents and moms are the tough, pragmatic ones. If this were true, however—if poor fathers were becoming traditional “moms”—they would be living with their children and performing all the domestic labor involved with their care and feeding. This, of course, is not the case.

Motherhood
I bet being a mother for the first time is extremely frustrating. I bet everyone treats you like you don't know anything. I bet everyone thinks they know exactly what is right for your baby and exactly how to do things for your baby. I bet that no matter how you care for your baby, it seems like you're completely wrong in everyone else's eyes. Im here to cheer on you new mothers. As for you new fathers, hang in there.
Tylei was just a kicking. She's ready to get out of the belly and see the world. Shan is gonna kill me if she sees that I put this video up.
Days work.
3 loads of Washing with 2 more prepared.
3 and a bit racks of dishes.
Tidied the bathroom sink and collected bathroom / laundry rubbish.
Tidied mess near the bed.
Took out many bags of trash.
Aired out the house and spent time with Ninja at the window and let Pirate outside for an hour or so.
Played a little guitar
Tidied kitchen and lounge room a little.
When I write it out like this it makes me feel more accomplished and happy that I actually got stuff done.
