Ummmm ok hi this might be rlly weird and random but I saw the piece of art you did for fat folks tarot of the girl doing pottery and,, I just wanted to say it made my heart really happy. I did ceramics all through high school, and I’ve been lucky enough to continue into college and beyond. Ceramic art is one of those they never tell you how physically taxing it is. Your back gets fucked up, you inhale all kinds of clay dust, but at the same time... It’s teaching you to connect with your physical body. Hook your elbow here between your hips- connect your thumbs like this. Lots of body stuff that can be really difficult at first for those of us not comfortable in our bodies, but then it teaches us that in order to create amazing art, we must trust our bodies to use as a foundation for our creative minds. At the same time I was taking ceramics, I was struggling with a ferocious eating disorder. In recovery, I used the lessons and applied them to my art. I never once stopped thinking about how much I relied on the shape of my body to create. How the space my elbow took up was just as important as the curve of my fingers, the little things and details of my body...
this was honestly beautiful to read! i really feel that, pottery is so beautifully connected to our own bodies ;w; thank you so so much for sending this, i’m so happy that my art could connect to someone in such a lovely way!!!
