Card of the Day - Fathom Fleet Captain
(Alch’s Note - I’m sorry I didn’t post anything last week. Shit hit the fan, and things took a while to recuperate. Not great.)
What can I say about this pirate? It’s a Black Piker, and my first card ever was a Black Piker, so I’m already in. It’s just such a nice, easy to understand thing - 2 mana, deal 2 damage, probably won’t live long. It’s fine.
But with menace? Haha, no chump blocking for me, nope!
But the best part? By turn 3, you can make this guy into a Menace Bear machine. Making Pirates with menace left and right. And I’m a sucker for Token strategies. But, it’s super tribal reliant. So only put it in your deck or cube if you have the tribal support and synergies to back this guy up. At the very least near two dozen pirates to use. He was good in Ixalan, but unless you’re allowing for those synergies in your build, not worth it. There are better bear makers. Maybe not in black though, as this guy basically does two cards worth of work, but he requires any other non-token Pirate to do it. It’s not a bad card, just situationally good.
