while there is importance in clarifying definitions, especially in the case of the oft-confused Hispanic/Latino, I have never met any latinx who has self-identified as Hispanic. I was born in Peru and it's always been... more of a term.... white people gave us. Some people are fine with it but it might rub some other folks the wrong way. Just lettin' you know.

That’s good to know, I was not aware! My brother in law and his family tend to refer to themselves with both terms, so I never really thought about it, but it makes sense that it varies from person to person!
