Monochrome soulmate AU?
Using the soul mate AU rules from this Freezerburn Week prompt.
Beinga soul mate to a faunus was an interesting thing, Weiss oftenthought.
Insome ways, it was a lot like being another human’s soul mate; shecertainly hadn’t known, when looking at the small black mark overher pulse point on her right wrist, that it belonged to a faunus. Shedefinitely hadn’t knownthat it belonged to a Belladonna, one of the most well known and welloff faunus families in all of Remnant, withties to White Fang that dated back to the group’s whole history.
She’dfound out, of course. One of the delights of having a soul mate markand not a soul mate nametattooed on the skin; it made ita surprise whenever one finally met their soul mate. If they ever mettheir soul mate at all.
Andonce she knew Blake was her soul mate—after searching for her fortwelve hours, after an apology that felt like ash on her tongue and atentative beginning of friendship that still felt fragile evennow—Weiss also learned what it meant to be a soul mate to a faunus.A human soul mate to afaunus.
“Howdoes it feel? Is it too much?”
“Blake.”It was a sigh, sounding far louder than the Schnee heiress was usedto hearing. “You’re fussing.”
Blackfeline ears flicked irritably; the cat faunus was keeping a distancebetween them, not wanting to overwhelm Weiss completely with hertouch and her scent when she was still adjusting to her heightenedsenses. “And if I am?”she asked. “I don’t exactly have a reference on humans and faunusbeing soul mates.”
Shecouldn’t argue that. It was certainly possible that human andfaunus soul mate bonds happened—it couldn’t not happen, with the way the population was in general. But it was something thatwasn’t talked about or recorded. They were quite literallyoperating in new water, for both of them.
Weisssighed again. “Well, when you felt my aura and used my semblance, that didn’t feel too strange, right? I imagine it’s the same forme right now. I’m getting used to it.”
Blakereached out tentatively and took her hand, tugging her in. Thefeeling of her skin, her claws made the other girl shiver. “Likethat, you mean?”
Weissblew out a long breath, now. “…. Slowly,” she managed at last.“I’m getting used to it slowly.”
Blakesmirked. “Of course. Don’t worry, I’ll keep my kisses chasteuntil you do.”
Iceblue eyes narrowed at her. “You’re making fun of me.”
Theblack cat laughed now and leaned in, kissing her—it was soft, andchaste, and light, and it didn’t last very long. But with theheightened sense of touch and taste, it sent a bolt all the way downWeiss’s spine to her toes, and she was a little breathless whenthey parted.
“Inyour defense,” she murmured, “this is probably still a littleoverwhelming for me.”
“Don’tworry.” Blake’s smirk became a smile, warm and gentle. “I’mpatient.”
