Nighthawks in Polychromy!
The fake cel chronicles return, with a brand spanking new look at The Nighthawks in polychromatic aged vinyl color!
Unlike other of my faux cel works, the drawing was done traditionally, and the sketch is right down below.
Also, bonus the Nighthawks laid out!
The Mascot Gets animated! Finally!
This animation process started out with a sketch from my "sketches of David" David's shooting pose is a Spider-Man crouching pose, helped by Instagram user Toyzology, with a Han Solo flair.
This took me at least 3 days off and on to work on, and it serves as a test for how the faux celluloid effect translates to animation.
First things first, the double blur effect that I normally use did not work when applying this to the animation. Thus, I had to use a Gaussian Blur set at 20.00Px at 33% opacity. Being 200.00mb already, I chose to eliminate the drop shadow.
Making this animation gave me more respect for animators, both professional and hobbyists, because of the oodles of work that are involved in animation.

Ink Doodles In Color.
These are sketches. I colored them in about a week ago.
The boxing glove in the middle was taken from Ashita no Joe.
The brushes used are from Ramon Miranda's Inktober Pack.
This is a faux cel of a Beatle Boot study done in Krita.
You might notice the approach is a bit different from my usual faux cel works. Coming off as one you would see on a auction site rather than one shot on a Rostrum Camera.
For the cel texture itself I used an old scan of my Transparency film sheets. You might recognize the transparencies from my "Celf Portait" and more recently real cel sketches.
The colors came from my Nighthawks In Polychromy post which were sourced by Ligbi.
The references were a bunch of photos from my gallery. Mostly Beatles Pictures.
The sole was inspired by a technique from Paul Rudish's Mickey Mouse Cartoons. Which had an excellent retrospective done by Matt Draper.
An Automotive Animation: Overlay edition!
Greetings And Salutations, it turns out the animation test could have been uploaded to Tumblr after all, The MiB threw me off!
For the Tumblr upload, I made a tweak to the film grain aspect.
I put the blending mode on “overlay” instead of “multiply” It would make the grain more readable and lighten the image.
Overall, I like the soft look that ShepherdCartography's Film Grain overlay provides. To make the film grain move, I used one of TestMacaroni's step from his fake cel tutorial as showcased on his Bluey Animation.
Shifting the grain around so it looks different on each frame. I also used the paint textures he supplied with his tutorial.
Despite the constant fear of Krita crashing, I really like how it turned out.

And the 35mm film grain was provided by ShepherdCartography on Deviantart.

Cel Sketches or On the Trail of Ghosts, 2025 on Krita in 4:3.
An improvisational piece that took two days to do.
I switched up the drop shadow color from a lineart black to a lineart grey. And the Background is a nod to the book covers of Mitchell Hooks and Robert Mcginnis. I also added some scratches to the cel along with some dust both belonging to the Inktober Bundle from Ramon Miranda.
It's also my third time using Val's Realistic Ink Pen Brush, and it pairs really well with the fake cel style.
