Just realized yesterday how relevant this song would have been to 2016. I never said I was timely.

I’ve been really, really sad since the start of the year -- so, since yesterday, I guess. It’s incredibly frustrating to be unreasonably sad any time, but when I have an extra day off work it’s particularly bad. There’s so much I want to do and I’m too bummed out to do 98% of it. 

Listening to Halcyon Digest by Deerhunter has been very comforting to me. I feel like the quality of their music has declined in recent years, but Microcastle / Halcyon is such an amazing back to back! I think the albums are equally good, but Halcyon is maybe where Bradford perfected his ‘50s rock vocal melodies - meets - ambient and shoegaze thing. That’s not quite exemplified through “Helicopter” but it’s such a graceful and strangely comforting song that I wanted to share it anyway. 

I also think it’s funny that the Kardashians were on the same episode of Conan as Deerhunter. That’s almost as weird as those photos of Kanye wearing the Raf Simons jacket with Richey Manic’s picture on it (almost)!
