Yes, I love classic rock 🤘
On March 5, 1978, Eddie Van Halen and David Lee Roth stopped by a McDonald's in Crestwood, St. Louis, Missouri during their early tour, just as Van Halen was starting to gain recognition. After a KSHE-FM radio interview, they took a quick food break. Since they didn't have much money yet, they had recently picked up matching Army-surplus, fur-lined jackets, which they're seen wearing here.
Young photographer Richard Upper captured this playful moment under the old single McDonald's arch, a spontaneous snapshot that would become one of the most iconic early images of Van Halen. Photo by 📷 Richard Upper
