2. What musical got you really into theatre?
Probably The Music Man. I’ve loved musicals for as long as I can remember. I watched Sound of Music, South Pacific, Disney movies, The King and I, and more a lot when I was a little kid. When I was about 9, my sister’s middle school put on a production of The Music Man and near the end (i swear i’ll never fucking forget this), the Mayor shouts “Where’s the band!?” and the actors missed their cue to enter and start one of the final numbers. So the kid playing the Mayor had to say it again and the boys’ band came out and did their thing.
But that small goof… Even adult actors make goofs like that and that’s what I love about theater. It’s live and anything can happen! And that was my first taste of that and I think that was the big contributor to why I love theater.
7. Favourite cast recording.
Hamilton. i could listen to that album on repeat.
28. What book, tv show, movie, biography, video game, etc. should be turned into a musical?
“The Count of Monte Cristo”. as far as I’ve looked into it, there has apparently been no actual musical for this book (at least not one that has come to broadway). if one exists, please let me know. It’s such a great story (it’s been adapted into an anime for goodness sake! XD) with a lot of rich material and multiple great characters. I’m really surprised it hasn’t been done already.
