Prompt 157
Person A has bouts of anxiety that seemingly come out of no where. One moment, A would be having a nice time with friends; then, slowly but surely, it gets harder and harder to breathe in and out, as if they were drowning above ground, choking on air. They have learned how to deal with this over the years, but just because it doesn't show doesn't mean it isn't there. Many of their friends don't notice a thing, and so they keep their mask on as they try to keep their head above water. Anxiety is a bitch. Person A eventually starts dating Person B. On their first few dates, Person A has small bursts of anxiety and calms them down with subtle techniques like slight changes in breathing or going to step out in cool air. They don't think that Person B would find them attractive if they said that they had an anxiety disorder, so they don't mention anything even when Person B notices that something is bothering Person A. One day during one of Person A's fits of anxiety, Person B gives them tips and advice for how to combat it as well as how to effectively deep breathe. After the brief wave of anxiety settles down, A is taken aback by this and asks B where they found out about these tips / how they knew Person A was dealing with anxiety. Nobody ever seems to notice that they are dealing with an internal struggle. Person B explains to them that, even though they don't have anxiety, they know people who do and have researched ways to help. A is relieved that someone understands this about them. On future pillow talks and hang outs together, Person A and Person B talk about possible ways they can treat the anxiety and Person B supports whatever A chooses and they live happily ever after with treatment and lifestyle changes and understanding of how anxiety works. Person B doesn't magically fix A; this is A's journey, and B is there to support them. ❤️
