when it came to Ritsuka’s sense of style, it wasn’t anything to brag about. she didn’t really think she had a ‘sense’ of style anyhow, mostly just picking things that were cute and pretty, but also comfy. but with the Flash Fashion, there were...a lot of different styles showcased.  quite a few caught her eye and others she liked, but didn’t think she could really pull off. not for the lack of self-confidence, just that it seemed out of her comfort zone. 

   so she can’t help but be uncertain at what Hilda was holding out to her, one eyebrow raised and head tilting to the side.

     “ I mean, I like it! But......are you really sure it’d work? “

          “i’m glad i finally get the chance to see you hard at work on your jewelry, hilda! i always admired your designs, but to witness their creation in person is something else...” mercedes’ own hands fumbled with the metal in her hands as she tried to pry them into shape — she’d learned a lot during the creative classes held at the arte feste booth, but she couldn’t say this skill was clicking quite as well as her sewing, knitting, or baking. regardless, she was grateful that these summer festivities had granted her the chance to spend more time with a cherished former classmate. and she was certain that she’d learn with practice, too.

“No, I’m telling you, I’ve heard all sorts of things about this city!”

Geez -- just because he looked weak didn’t mean that he was stupid. Rui had raised his hands into fists in front of his chest again, his brows furrowed intently, really really trying to drive his point home. It probably just made him look ridiculous, but he didn’t really care. It made him feel like he was driving his point home better.

He was half-tempted to puff his cheeks out for good measure, but he was thirteen now and as his parents’ only child he should start acting more like an adult.

“Just -- just listen to me, for one second!”

Man... he really wouldn’t have usually put this much effort into someone trying to listen to him, but Rui hadn’t seen too many people around his age, so he was kind of desperate just for some kind of friend (what was that about acting like an adult? liar). If he couldn’t have his parents here, the least he could do was make some friends, but much like the rest of his life he could really count the luck he’d had with that on one hand and one hand only. And he wasn’t even really sure if he could count Amane as a friend.

“I’ve heard people say that we might not ever get to go home.”

“Can you imagine --? They can’t just... I have things to do back home. You do, too, right?”
