hogwarts! scamandore au

now newt teaches magizoology at hogwarts and finally works near his favourite professor. dumbledore and he always had this magical pure connection between them. maybe they denied it, but it always was here. was it the reason why newt wanted to work at hogwarts? who knows.

actually they spend a lot of free time together in newt’s cabinet with his fantastic creatures that always amaze albus. but more than those creatures albus is amazed by newt. he know this man since newt was a first-year. albus sees how scamander became the person he is today. he always loved newt’s kindness, devotion, faith in something good. for newt albus was the one to trust his problems and maybe secrets when he was far away from family. sometimes newt lies to himself that albus isn’t more than his collegue and kind of best friend. but his eyes betray him and dumbledore always sees it.

sometimes newt goes on a trip abroad to see new creatures and albus writes him letters because he misses newt, but never says it. he only writes “come back soon, Newton”. it always warms newt’s heart in hope that he’s at least a little special for albus. oh, if he only knew how special he is.

it were winter holidays. one day newt sits in cabinet taking care for occamy and receives a paper butterfly that is actually a note from albus. it says dumbledore’s soft voice “can i see you on a west tower? i want to give you an early christmas present”. of course newt didn’t expect this and he runs where he was asked to. as he gets to the tower, he sees albus standing back to him. “you woke up my interest with this letter actually”, says newt. “oh, it was planned so”, replies albus with warm smile. “your eyes always shine when you see me. why is it so?” asks albus newt getting closer to him. “why did you... decide so?”, asks newt nervously. “because, as you could notice, my eyes shine too when i see your face”, says albus and takes newt’s hands. “w-what... am i sleeping, albus?” dumbledore only shakes his head with smile. then he directs his wand up and above them appears a mistletoe branches. newt understands everything and watches albus right in his eyes. they get closer and twist their arms around each other and finally kiss. albus is so gentle that newt literally vanishes in this kiss, holding on dumbledore tighter. they end this soft kiss and albus says smiling: “we can go somewhere else, it gets colder here. i don’t want you to get cold. what about a fireplace in my cabinet?”. “anywhere you want. umm.. albus? this is the best christmas present I’ve.. ever received”, says newt being a little confused in a good way.
