Why is it that every time I write a Theseus-centric story, Newt always manages to wurm himself into it, despite him not being supposed to be there.

I already have a fic in the works where they meet up while on the job, so to speak. Yet Newt decided he needed to get in on the action of this fic as well. He was already gonna be in there for a lil bit but I guess he wanted action.

Now I have to figure out how to reconcile the two versions of the scene into one cohesive thing. *slams head onto nearest desk* Thanks Newton. >:|

thesleta on the ministry id card photo day both taking longer than they’d usually do so to get ready, both secretly hoping to get a better photo than usual to impress the other, butterflies in their stomach. Theseus managing this in a more chaotic series of events by commandeering a sink in the ministry bathrooms after coming off the back of a long long week and Leta being more deliberate in making her makeup absolutely killer. both of them getting teased by their colleagues and Leta denying she wants to impress anyone while Theseus can’t even make it to the point of denial without getting embarrassed and shy.

both of them getting copies of their own photos and trying to imagine them from the perspective of the other. but also, from the pile left out on a table in the Auror office, waiting to be picked up and attached to the renewal form, both pocketing a copy of one another’s photo…

on the train thinking about “we are brothers, after all”, while patching up Newt’s injuries, while having just sung an animal that only trusts those pure of heart to sleep. it’s SUCH a bid for connection, a request to be seen as a good person, and a tender reassurance that, yes, taking care of you is what I do, and why would I not be here for you?

I feel so bad for Theseus. Imagine having gone through the trauma of the massacre at the rally, a trauma that would be hard to talk about to others that hadn't experienced it with you, and then having to report it to Travers. That would suck!

And then he would have had to do the administrative work that comes with having aurors he was responsible for killed on duty. And someone would have had to tell the deceased aurors' families that they were killed. That would have been either him or Travers. And Theseus also considered the people at the Ministry family. And then Leta, his fiancée, was also killed at the rally.

Poor Theseus :(
