Why would we NOT call on the power of God when we have it available to us?

I was sitting through service yesterday, and Larry asked us this question. He then went on and gave us a challenge.

He said, "I challenge you to go home tonight and unplug a lamp. Then, go and read a book in the dark." 

People started to snicker at how ridiculous this challenge was and how pointless the challenge would be. Who can see anything in the dark, let alone read a novel? It would just be a waste of time. Also, it would be a waste of product. The lamp was given to you, why not use it while you have it?

He said that God was like that light. He is here for us but yet so many of us choose not to call on Him.  So many of us are still sitting in dark.
