I want to know more about your nano story *chinhands*
EEEYYYY
Henrietta Morgan, newest Post-Captain in Her Majesty's Royal Navy, didn't mean to fall in love with her French counterpart. But Elise Durand is irresistible. And she knows it. When war breaks out, however, the two captains find themselves on opposite sides of a shrinking sea, staring down the barrel of each other's cannons. Navigating the waters is Henrietta's specialty. Navigating the war is Elise's. But navigating their relationship amid the boom of broadsides and the whisper of sails in the dark of the night will prove the greatest challenge these two ladies will face. Well, that and the impending wrath of their Admirals, should their love be discovered...
That is the Official Synopsis, but yeee it’s kinda what is says on the tin.
Age of Sail romance with Ladies.
otherwise known as the most self-indulgent garbage I could possibly manage.
The girls meet at Henrietta’s cousin’s party and have a bit of a laugh. They admire each other’s reputations as excellent lieutenants and congratulate each other on being made captains. Shenanigans are had and Things develop from there.
But when war breaks out, they have to put their relationship on pause to FIGHT EACH OTHER, and they are SEPARATED by the BATTLEFIELD and everything is AWFUL. And they spend some time studiously avoiding each other and trying not to fight one another.
They definitely make their semaphore girls send encoded messages that are just flirting. Their semaphore girls blush.
Then Henrietta is ordered to be part of a several-ship attack on a fort, and Elise is commanded to defend the fort, and they have to fIGHT EACH OTHER AND HOW WILL IT TURN OUT?? WE JUST DON’T KNOW. ISN’T IT AWFUL?
And yes, that’s most of what I’ve got. Lisa spent the afternoon quizzing me on tiny character details and helping me flesh out Henrietta and Elise a little more, so we’ll see what happens. It’s going to be silly and dramatic and full of incorrect historical notes and really incorrect sailing terms and I’m pumped af.
