Weekly Top Dawgs for 2/28 - 3/5
Ever wonder what happened to that Wachusett Dirt Dawg who tore the cover off the ball back in 2013? How about that rembrandt pitcher that had opposing hitters uncomfortable in the batter’s box? Well look no further than the Weekly Top Dawgs report. The perfect place to check-up on Dirt Dawgs of the past, and even those who are awaiting their first game in a Dirt Dawgs uni.
Here are your Top Dawgs for the week of 2/28 - 3/5
- Max DiTondo SS, Franklin Pierce University, 2015 Alumni
Max was a run producing machine during the week where he scored eight runs for Franklin Pierce, picking up five hits on 15 at-bats, and launching one out of the park. So far this season, he has played in all nine games for the Ravens notching a .385 batting average with 12 RBIs and nine runs scored to go along with two homeruns, helping his team remain undefeated through nine.
- Jon Kristofferson SS, St. Peters, 2015 Alumni
Jon is the second alumni from a summer ago to be tearing it up early for his school. During the week at St. Peters he went 5-for-17 at the dish, driving in four, and enjoying a multi-homer game in a 3-4 loss against Richmond. This season, Kristofferson is hitting .333 with three homeruns, six RBI, and a pair of stolen bases for the Peacocks.
- Brenden Skidmore 1B, Binghamton University, 2014 Alumni
Brenden was recently named the America East Player of the Week following his .417 performance at the plate during a weekend series against the Virginia Military Academy this past weekend. He opened the three game set with a multi-homer game, hitting two solo jacks, finishing the weekend set batting 5-for-12. This season at Binghamton University, Skidmore has drove in nine runs, hitting three doubles, with a .286 average at the dish while starting in his teams first ten games.
- Gage Griffin LHP, Franklin Pierce University, 2015 Alumni
The second alumni from the undefeated Ravens of Franklin Pierce, Gage opened the season with 7.2 innings of quality work where he allowed just one run off five hits, striking out three and getting plenty of offensive help to pick up his first win of the season in a 12-4 victory against Wilmington. In his most recent outing he appeared in one inning and struck out a pair in relief.
- Tyler McVicar INF, Elon University, 2013 Alumni
Tyler has racked up the extra base hits so far for Elon University. During the week McVicar smacked five hits in 14 at-bats, hitting one double and showing his strength for one homerun in a game against Bowling Green. He has batted .318 through his team’s first 13 games to open the year, while grabbing five doubles and launching a pair of dingers.
The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs are set to open the 2016 season with a western divisional showdown against the Bristol Blues on Wednesday June 1st, but until then you can catch all of your Dirt Dawgs news here on the Dingers and Bleeders blog!
Alu just graduated from Princeton Day High School, where he was a starting IF. During his senior year in high school, he had 86 at bats with 38 runs, 45 hits, 18 RBI’s, 10 doubles, 3 triples and 3 HR. We are excited to see what this youngster has to bring to the Dirt Dawgs team!

Hudson started 37 of the 39 games he played in this season at Lafayette. He had 19 runs, 34 hits, 5 doubles, 1 triple, 3 HR and 11 RBI. During his sophomore yea Hudson registered nine multi-hit games in 35 starts as the third baseman. He batted .259 on the season with 19 runs batted in, nine runs scored, two doubles, a triple and two home runs. We look forward to seeing what Hudson will do for the Dirt Dawgs this season!!

Anderson was a Red Shirt player for his first two seasons, 2014 and 2015. But even as a Redshirt in 2015 he was a pinch hitter for 3 games during the season and made his collegiate debut with a start as DH on 2/14, which he drew a walk. Before college baseball Anderson was a three-year varsity starter at first base for Delbarton and was named Morris County Hitter of the Year by Daily Record as a senior.

Brice played and started in 27 of UMass Lowell’s games. He had 91 at bats, with 10 runs and 25 hits. During a game on May 14 against LIU Brooklyn Erickson had 9 putouts, 1 hit that brought in two runs and they won the game 5-1. We are excited to CATCH him in action!

Zach Zona appeared in 10 games and started 6 games. On May 3rd, he pitched a complete game against Salem State which resulted in a win. During that game he had 12 strikeouts! For the 2015 season Zona have went 4-3 with an ERA of 3.33 and a total of 60 strikeouts. We are excited to see him strikeout the competition!
