A glare was fixed and her jaw was set, the small disagreement between the pair blew up unnecessarily. There was nothing to it, really: a difference in opinion, exhaustion and haggard emotions but hissed words had soon given way to a tense silence. Neither of them swayed or gave an inch, unwilling to back down but she couldn’t understand why the brief battle had been so effectual. She felt it in her gradually slowing heartbeat, however, it was an unnatural calm that centered entirely on watching him watch her.

All at once, she was desperate to break the contact, turning away with a deep breath, she made to turn away until his hand swiftly grasped her wrist and drew her back. The thundering in her chest returned as the fingers of his free hand tangled in her light hair, followed rapidly by his mouth crushing violently against hers and punctuated by a shocked moan that was all but lost to the kiss. Her hands balled into fists and her eyes shut tightly, but an urge to push him away had passed - if it had occurred to her in the first place but rather, she was lost in his enjoyable assault on her senses. It wasn’t before he broke away that the girl gave him a firm shove in the chest and a less genuine but still icy glare. “You shit.”

“Not particularly…” Her brow furrowed as she searched her purse for a loose cigarette, deliberately ignoring the man’s question out of sheer frustration. Neither powder, nor large sunglasses did anything to hide the gash to her cheekbone and he noticed it. Of course he noticed it. That bastard.

Finally locating a crumpled cigarette, she sank into her chair and met Karl’s gaze with a worn out, shaky sigh. Explaining the wound away, dismissing it as nothing would have been hopeless.“I made the mistake of telling a soldier I disagreed with him. I believe he was attempting to show me it was unappreciated…” Intentionally, she kept his identity and loyalties to herself, slipping the cigarette between her lips and lighting it. “Now, can we forget it? Please.”
