there was so much going on and overnight, it seemed like everyone’s lives had been thrown for a complete loop, especially the life of her and her best friend, jordana. and with jordana’s kids being like her own to her, when she spotted maiya sitting in the cafe after she had finished her run on the beach that morning, she didn’t hesitate to walk over to where she had been sitting, soft smile on her lips. “hi, sweetie.” she said softly, nodding towards the empty chair across from her. “mind if i join you?”

sitting perched up on the girl’s kitchen counter, she’s eating whatever it was her chef had whipped up for them, head tilting to the side in thought as she took another bite of food. “so, now that mommy dearest is divorced and she’s obviously marrying me next, we have to figure out what you’re going to call me. step mommy has an awful ring to it.” she said with a scrunch of her nose. “i wouldn’t mind being called daddy, i suppose. i’m definitely more of a man than the last one was.”

there was only so much of his family that he could take. was it someone’s birthday? or just an excuse to be fancy? he had no idea, but all he knew was that he was over whatever little shindig was taking place in the kennedy household. he made his way into the yard, laying across one of the lounge chairs seated in front of the infinity pool, smoking a joint into the night air when he heard the sound of footsteps behind him, turning his head to see that it was his niece - which was funny, considering he was only seven years older than her. “sup, pipsqueak?” johnny said with a grin, holding up the joint towards her. “i’ll share if you don’t tell anyone where i am.”
