i feel it in my bonesϟ,
lee jaehwan had not felt this way in a long time. he wouldn’t have been able to feel the buzz of electricity underneath his skin a few years ago. it was nostalgic almost – it was like when he didn’t own metal bones, when the electricity he conducted went through his whole body and made his heart rate sky rocket. it was something lee jaehwan called buzzing and he loved it so, so much. the white sparks flew from his fingertips – dancing along his skin and evaporating into the air. this was the first time in a long time that jaehwan had felt the power of the electricity so well – maybe it was the amount of electricity that now ran through him or maybe it was the awareness of his power. non the less – he felt the need to experiment. it’s why he was here – his reflection looking up at him from the dark water. he looked at the ripples that were made at the edge of the lake and he wondered how far he could go as to harnessing the salt and organisms and elements build up in the water’s density. flexing his fingers, jaehwan knelt down at the water’s edge. he reached out over it, small sparks connecting with the surface. all until he unleased that one pulse of electricity. he could feel the electricity bouncing off confused fish – like a kind of sonar found in an electric eel. jaehwan smiled at the realization of how far he had come from the lazy sack of a human power outlet he was a year ago. he was proud of himself, so, so proud. that was until he felt a disturbance in the water – finding something that wasn’t a fish. more like a human. and quickly jaehwan’s hands flinched away – a fear filling his eyes because holy shit – he could have just electrocuted someone.
