Roderick doesn’t get a lot of fanart and I’m sad because he’s one of my favourite characters in FE12. I used his FEH artwork to reference a lot of the shading because I need to learn how to shade armour better if I’m going to be drawing Fire Emblem characters. (Click for better quality!)
Oh, and I just remembered I drew this! I wasn’t very happy with my first few digital drawings of Roderick so I had to try again. I’m much happier with how this looks, and... have a developed a new chibi style? I don’t know anymore. But using thicker lines is kind of fun and I don’t know why I stopped doing it.
(...it’s hard when your favourite FE character is one of the least popular but it’s okay I’ll just drawmy own content–)
The Seventh Platoon gets caught out in the rain while out training and seek shelter in a cave they happen to find. They sit around a fire, take a nap and Luke and Katarina enjoy a small strategy game when everyone's dozing off.
A scene from my FE12 Seventh Platoon fanfic, which is creatively titled ‘Rain’. (I’m not linking it here since Tumblr does strange things with links, but it’s on AO3.) It’s one of the few Seventh Platoon Shenanigans fics that I have, so if you’re interested in reading, please check it out!
I was attempting to draw something else, then gave up after way too many tries of attempting to make it look like how I imagined it and ended up doing one of these again. So, uh, the Seventh Platoon in the FEH Meet the Heroes style... again. This time, it’s everybody! (Also, featuring a F!Kris version.)
This was a suggestion from someone after I posted the original Kris one, so... yeah, that’s about it. And I’ve decided I don’t like the Marker brush on Medibang Paint, so back to the G Pen it is, even if it probably doesn’t make it look as authentic.
(Below are the JPEG version of them because why not)
POV: You’re Kris and your platoon is worried about you. At least, the guys are – I couldn’t fit in Cecil and Katarina, otherwise it’d probably be way too crowded.
I drew a sketch, wondered about why it was partially sideways, ignored that and drew Roderick. Then I looked at it again, added a sky, realised it looked a lot like a certain ‘there are better places to sleep than the ground, you know’ and then added the other two.
Also, when adding the text and choosing colours for the text, I realised that... I literally associate all of them with green. Like, Ryan’s entire design is basically green, Luke’s hair is green, Roderick’s the ‘green cavalier’ out of the red and green cavalier duo (at least, that’s what I think). So... yeah, if the colours look out of place, it’s because the other option was to make them all differing shades of green or just white. (Since it’s hard to tell too, green text is Ryan, blue text is Luke and white text is Roderick.)
There’s one with just Roderick and a yellow background under the cut. (He’s my current favourite character. Managed to get a Lull Spd/Def 3 for him in FEH, but still waiting on Swift Sparrow 3... still saving up Divine Codes for that.)
Roderick joined the Altean squires with aspirations of becoming a fully fledged Altean knight.
He ended up in the same platoon as his longtime friend and rival, Luke. They’re very different in personality, but the cool and calm Roderick helps to keep Luke’s flirtatious tendencies in check.
Apparently, since he has several younger sisters back home, he's also picked up skills like sewing and cooking. Who knew being a knight meant that you could also be capable at seemingly mundane tasks as well?
Even though he’s just a squire now, I'm sure he’ll be capable of being a great knight one day! I’m sure he’ll be a valued asset to the Order of Heroes!
(How did I even make this in one day? Sheer dedication to making fanart for one of my favourite characters, especially since he’s severely underappreicated. Also, I found a marker brush on Medibang that fits the lineart style more. Maybe I’ll end up making the whole Seventh Platoon in Sharena’s Meet the Heroes art style...)
