Midir, you look different from how I remember you!
Anyways, I’m finally playing FE4, just seized Jungby Castle~ The map is a lot larger than what I’m used to, but I’m enjoying it.

And the ending! I think its so fitting for all the descendants to take their respective thrones, especially after having fought alongside them. Seliph is so adorable with how surprised he is that he’s to be king of Grannvale. He’ll no doubt be a kind king.... I liked getting to see what he had to say to each group of people before they headed out, I suppose this can change a lot depending on who you paired up (and if anyone died). I just used the screenshot with Ares because he’s the best, and I liked the dialogue there.
The conversation with Arthur was especially interesting too... looks like Seliph realized how Arvis was manipulated from the start, and being such a good person, he could no longer hate him.... oh, and interesting that the Fire Emblem itself is just a crest for Velthomer.
Oh, and so Lewyn was Forseti all this time, that explains his changed personality... so does that make Forseti the bad dad here? (Why was Ced all of a sudden proud to be his son, is he not still angry at him for disappearing? Fee sure was.... but Ced didn’t seem too happy with him either...)
Such a hopeful ending too, things seem to be looking good all of Jugdral now! Good leaders uniting their people, and a “divine king” of Grannvale~
And B rank for my first time through, not bad, not bad at all..... H-how did I not get enough experience though...huh....
So overall....... I think this has got to be one of, if not my favorite Fire Emblem game!!! It was a delight to play, I love a good story, and it provided, I got really attached to the characters, and well... I LOVE well written antagonists, and FE4 delivered. Arvis ended up being my favorite character (which I half expected, I mean well written tragic antagonists are my type!!) but also Eldigan? Which I’m still not sure why....so naturally I ended up loving Ares as well.
I enjoyed the gameplay itself too, the large maps were a change of pace from what I’m used to, but they made it feel more like a large scale war.... they fit the game well, and I liked them a lot, even the turns spent traveling (though stuff like having to turn around in chapter 4 was maybe a bit much, but overall I actually like those peaceful turns... it’s like a time to collect yourself) Oh and I liked the different themes for each map, and there were some good battle themes too, as well as the themes for different armies!
Also it does the 2 generation system so well!! It feels natural, not just... forcing marriage and kids in for the hell of it. You have the first half of the game telling Sigurd’s tale, which ends in tragedy in the Battle of Belhalla (THAT SCENE IS INCREDIBLE TOO, I mean I vaguely knew about it going in, but to see the context of it for myself...wow!! To have your lord be lured into a trap and killed with most of his army........
Then you pick up with his son, and the children of all these characters you got attached to from the first half, as they fight to free Jugdral! And its interesting to see Arvis’ rise and tragic fall....genuinely wishing for a just world, achieving it, then having things spiral out of control..... and him making sure Tyrfing gets to Seliph... and that Julia can get Naga.... so they can stop Loptyr once and for all. And then all these kids end up ruling their respective nations, which I suppose depends somewhat on your choices who ends up where!
In short.... FE4 was an excellent game, I would HIGHLY recommend it!!!! Next up I plan to play Thracia 776! I need more Jugdral in my life!!
And so begins the final Holy War...... Not going to start until tomorrow, but wow, this has got to be one of the best fire emblem games I’ve played, and I’ve played a good number of them...... I’m not ready for it to end
Ahaha and Seliph finally called Lewyn out on knowing everything (I’d been wondering about that too), and then we got a brief history lesson, but no time for that now.... there are a bunch of Loptyrians with silence staves (yaaaay...) and fenrir right outside
Most of my units are thankfully promoted now, got the last few that were ready before stopping... and hell yeah, Leif is a master knight!
Took down Ishtar because fighting Julius seemed like a really bad idea, then it was just Chalphy left to seize...
AND NOW I’M REALLY UPSET ABOUT ARVIS???? Entrusting Palmarch with Tyrfing, essentially giving Seliph the means to take him down, yet having him swear not to tell him.... huh..... Almost as if her wanted Seliph to kill him like that.... And its really interesting how he shows his kind side in front of Palmarch and Julia, even apologizing to her for all he’s done, yet when fighting Seliph he acts entirely different....did he want Seliph to have sense of avenging his father...?
And he genuinely did love Deirdre too, its almost sweet, though I hope he really just didn’t know she was his half sister.........
And he really loves his daughter!! And she loves him too!!!
AND THE SCENE BY THE WATER WITH DEIRDRE AND SIGURD LEFT ME NEARLY IN TEARS......... I love this family..........
Crying about?? Arvis?!! AHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh he really does love his daughter ;A; And he tried to save the children.... he’s just so... sad and pitiful now.........
2 castles captured with relative ease, though Julius and Ishtar are here to make my life difficult now (+ sleep staves, I hate sleep staves....)
Hilda... you’ve killed children like it was nothing...... while Seliph was questioning how they have to kill good people at that time....
I liked that conversation between Seliph and Oifey a lot...how people can easily idolize someone like Seliph (and I mean it makes sense given the state of Jugdral) but he’s still human like everyone else, and is terrified at the thought that he’s being revered as a god
And wow... Arvis... Emperor of all of Jugdral, who had grand dreams of creating a just world, now little more than a puppet emperor who has no choice but to bend to his own son’s will (who’s not exactly his son anymore either).... Things got out of his control, and now the world is nothing like how he wished, he can’t even stop the child hunts.
And Julius even killed Deirdre, and its a miracle Julia is alive for now.... ah, so that’s why she was found by Lewyn....
Finished my lengthy preparations and started chapter 10! I easily could have gotten farther tonight, but I know I’m getting close to the end and I don’t want it to end..... Errr, maybe I’ll try Thracia 776 next for more Jugdral?
It’s not very smart to fight Ares with Mystletainn, he took care of most of those enemies (Lester helped)
And Ares and Seliph are the first 2nd gen units to reach level 30, yaaaay, they’re both really strong.....
I feel like I’ll be done by the end of next week..... or earlier even......
Chapter 9 cleared with less trouble than expected, even with all those dracoknights! My favorite part was when I recruited Hannibal, and reinforcements showed up by the villages where Ares had just visited, and so they all ran to their deaths thanks to Mystletainn (whoops! It worked out though? And bargain band means he can afford it especially since he got Tornado to sell)
One of my favorite things about FE4 has been well written antagonists, I love a good antagonist... even someone as vile as Travant who took hostages and took in Altena just for Gae Bolg goes and says something like “find a way to liberate Thracia’s people from their suffering.” And Altena says he also really did raise her like a daughter? Arion even more so... if only he didn’t feel tied down by his father’s last words....
And I especially like Arvis, wow, he had such noble intentions, but things have gotten way out of hand for him, and now even his own son seems to be able to manipulate him....
I mean he still set up that cruel trap at Belhalla, but he’s the type that thinks its a necessary sacrifice in order to achieve his goals....... what a good character, I can see why he’s a well liked antagonist
Ishtar.... please.... you seem like a good person, but your man is..... kinda possessed or something..... he’s very excited about child hunts you should clearly realize THAT’S NOT GOOD.......hell, Arvis realizes that’s not good!
And oh no, first Deirdre, now Julia..... please let me get her back ;A;
