Benjie was sat on the counter in the kitchen rolling a gold ring around his fingers. After talking with Mercy Benjie realized he didn't want to wait around anymore. There were things he was suppose to do before he proposed but.. but he felt like it was time. Those things could come afterwards.
He stared at the ring in his palm. It was a simple ring, a gold band with the phrase in aeternum engraved on the inside.
He didn't know if Sam would say yes, he didn't even know how Sam would feel about being proposed to.
He sighed and ran his hand over his face before clasping them together, the ring pressing and digging into his palms.
“Uh, God.” He said softly. “Hi, I.. I don't know if you're listening, or if you'd even listen to a man like me. I.. I don't worship you I'm Pagan you see.. I mean I guess you know that.” He trailed off and let out a nervous chuckle.
“But, I do respect you and I mean, I guess you know what I'm going to do but I think it's right that I tell you anyway. Samuel, I wont say his other name, because we both know how he feels about it. But I love him. I love him so much and I have to thank you if you put him in my path or me in his because I have never been this happy before and I hope that I make him happy and that is what you want for him. He's a good soul and he deserves some happiness, but I digress. If he will have me I want to marry him and I'm not presumptuous enough to ask for your blessing or anything. I know getting involved in the lives of mortals isn't generally a good thing to do, but.. but I just wanted to tell you, he is my world.”
Benjie trailed off, a fond smile on his face.
“Anyway, uh, thank you for listening if you did, I wont take up anymore of your time.” He dipped his head and unclasped his hands. There was an imprint of the ring pressed into his palms and Benjie traced it reverently for a moment before looking up at the small potted plant that he'd set on the counter.
He hoped Sam didn't think it was strange—the whole reason he'd gone home in the first place.
With a sigh he worried his fingers together before standing. He put the ring in his pocket and cleared his throat.
“Sam.” He said, raising his voice a little, knowing that he'd be heard wherever Samuel was in the house. He’d heard the faint chime of piano keys earlier, but he’d zoned out when he was talking and now had lost the man’s location in the house.
“Could you come here for a moment?”
