He knew it was impossible that it had been one of his friends who had leaked the secret. Neither James, nor Sirius or Peter would ever do that to him. He may have only known them for 2 years, but he knew them well enough to be certain. But at the end of the day, it didn’t matter who did it. What mattered was that his dream of visiting Hogwarts and living like a regular wizard had come to a sudden end. With knowledge of him being a werewolf spreading like wildfire, it had become impossible for him to keep on being a student.
Remus returned home and was horrified when his father suggested a quiet life as a muggle. No way, not after everything Remus had seen. Lyall himself gets to live in this magical world and Remus was supposed to keep his head down? There was something inside of him that deemed this clearly unacceptable. No, he came up with his own solution. The only way to not cut ties with the wizarding world completely.
It had been hard to watch his mother cry. While Remus sat in his room and packed his bags, he thought about how she had shaken in Lyall’s arms. It almost made him falter. Almost. You better embrace what you are, Lupin, he told himself innerly, blinking his own tears away.
He held immense hatred for Fenrir Greyback, and the hatred grew in intensity when he considered how, at the end, he didn’t even manage to choose a different life just like he had hoped. Instead he was forced to actually learn how to make the most of this..disease. He huffed and threw things into his suitcase with more intensity than necessary, then went over to the window to open it and let the fresh cold evening air inside.
“I’m going to find a pack to join,” the had told his parents. But how? How did that even work? Where were the werewolves right now? Which pack to choose? He had no idea what to even do now. It all seemed so hopeless.
