THank you @crystalclearmusic1 and @crystaljaydeinside1
I'm trying, I'm fighting.
You will never FEEL LIKE IT. Do it anyway. Stop waiting.
Mel Robbins
Fighter (Official Lyric Video) Fearless Soul
Some of us beat ourselves up regularly over things we can not change. Many of those things were done when we were young, or traumatized, or when we simply didn’t know any better. I thank God there was no one around to “cancel” me when I deserved it, because that would have been a validation to me that I was beyond forgiveness and change.
There are those of course that never take ownership and just wish to excuse their own behavior while trying to gaslight others. I suppose not everyone deserves forgiveness, but to a loving soul, it’s necessary to forgive anyways. To let go of that hatred and venom so that we can heal ourselves.
There are days I’m simply overwhelmed by life and I find myself truly believing that if someone else would simply love and support me that I could walk through fire, but the truth is, that would only make it easier. The actual ability needs to come from within, and because I may not have that outside source of motivation I need to be far more creative in finding ways to motivate myself, and I must carefully guard my heart, mind, and soul from those who would try to self aggrandize by stepping on my throat, my beliefs, my dreams, goals, etc, not because I don’t forgive them, but because there is a difference between forgiveness and inviting someone back in to your sanctuary.
We have been completely apart in every way for almost two years, and more or less completely disconnected for 8 months before that, and still she made sure to tell me before she left that she forgave me and expected me to be better in the future. Anyone who has followed me for a while would know that forgiveness did not lessen the pain that I experienced, in fact, there were times that my soul burned all the more because of it. It did close the door though, and it did make it basically impossible for me to spin it overtime in such a way as to ease that pain by leveraging my own pain and anger. It made it so I needed to offer her the greatest respect I could and try to honor her desire to be around me no longer. Forgiveness is not absolving anyone of their actions, but recognizing their right to make mistakes and grow in the same way we require. Mostly it’s our way to avoid “drinking poison and waiting for the other to die.”
Forgiving yourself is much harder. Overcoming your impressions of yourself is lengthy and painful, and while she helped me heal by giving me tools and support that I’d always lacked, the “healing” came from within. It’s absolutely to only way it can come. I’m overwhelmed today. I’m anxious and afraid, and so my mind (as always it seems) turns to her. I miss her terribly every day and in every way, and life would be beautiful with her in it, but I don’t “need” her. I can do this. I can survive. I can grow. I can heal. Only I can stop me, so as long as I don’t give up I have every reason to believe that tomorrow will be better. Better than if I had her in my life? Maybe not, but better than today, and that’s what matters. Are you going to be better off tomorrow or worse? If circumstances are what dictates that, then you’re a victim of life. I will be responsible for those who are willing to be accountable, the rest I will forgive and walk away from because I am hoping to become a man that deserves better.
