wedged in the heart of a cluster of laughing friends, all taking in the sunset as they walked down the crowded streets of downtown honolulu, it was hard for duckie to think about anything but the present. had there ever been a more gorgeous night? a face half-recognized off in the distance caught her attention, which was difficult considering how enticing her surroundings already were, but she shook the feel off. suddenly, all she could think about was the past. a few seconds later, she swore she recognized the person again and when he turned his head to look at something, there was no mistaking him any longer. “shut the fuck up,” she muttered on her next breath, stopping while her friends kept walking. “i’ve gotta– you guys go ahead, i’ll meet up with you in a sec,” she told them, awe-struck at the familiar face all the way out here in honolulu. “danny?” she called out, full of disbelief. that shock quickly shifted to total happiness and before she knew what she was doing, she was sprinting to the tall, familiar figure. “danny!” she shouted, jumping up to wrap her arms around him in a hug like it hadn’t been over three years. “oh my god, what are you doing here? oh my god!”
