yes. he is. he’s been bleeding for a while now and he knows exactly when. getting hurt was always the trade off of being close range, but he always preferred it over snipers or rifles. and while he’s not the only one on the front lines, he’s the bigger target. people tend to go for him over genji, and that’s just fine. saves the kid from a few extra bullet wounds.
still, he glances at himself when the question is asked, noticing the crimson dripping down from under his chest plate. just one shot, nowhere with consequence, and the pain isn’t so bad that he can’t use his arm. it’ll be sore in that spot tomorrow for sure, as all his wounds always are, but for now he’s okay.
a pause, and there’s a message over private text comms.
[ i’m fine. it looks worse than it really is. ]
It may not be a severe injury, but for the amount of blood present there’s still the faintest twitch of concern in Genji’s brow. Even one bullet can be incredibly painful, something he knows from first-hand experience. --Then again, Maine has never seemed bothered by any wounds that Genji has seen him with. Maybe he’s got a high tolerance for pain.
The message sent over the comms regarded, the cyborg eyes the red that’s seeped out from beneath Maine’s chest plate for another second or two before his gaze flits back up to the other’s face. He appears, at first, to almost study it, as though seeking any signs that he may be stretching the truth. Of course, he finds nothing. With an almost resigned look, Genji tucks away his blade and nods. If Maine says he’s fine, then he’s fine.
“ You are fortunate, then. It does not look inconsequential. We can at least patch it up temporarily when we return to the dropship. ”
