The birds in Eversong had gone quiet. The lapping of the ocean waves at the island seemed distant, inconsequential. He watched life fade from the boy’s eyes, unwilling to turn away, too honorable by far to let such a significant thing pass without observation. His whispered “T-thanks..” mingled with the water drifting over the sand, and the Spellbreaker dipped his head in a single curt nod. The copper-and-bronze decorated blade, razor sharp, hissed as he drew it swiftly from the Sin’dorei’s torso, sounding over-loud to his ears, and yet more blood spilled to soak the bandages that bound wounds earned less than an hour before. He hardly noticed the pain at his right side, fresh crimson of his own dripping from the tear the boy’s dagger had made. The pain was unimportant, irrelevant. With solemn care, he eased the man’s body down to the sand, refusing to let such a thing be discarded carelessly. He wiped his sword across the bandages before sliding it back into the sheath with a metallic click that seemed to echo through the silence. For a moment, he stood, emerald gaze focused on the man he’d killed. Barely a man; he seemed so youthful. But mourning wasn’t his to have; that would be passed to another. The burden to his honor, though.. that would stay. With the urgency of the information given, the Spellbreaker made his way to Silvermoon with haste and agitation, rushed to the Shielded Mind, and gave that knowledge over to one of the members high up in the ranks. There was no time to waste. Fury was closely bottled; Captain Bloodhawk knew it would need to be unleashed soon. There was no time left. There would be more blood on his hands before this was done, but one thought filled him with grim determination. How many more would chose death at the blade of a soldier?
