Now I’m frustrated. On Friday, after protesting to the Union buildings all universities have 0% increase on registration fees for 2016.
Vice Chancellor Prof C de la Rey, says that we, Tuks, will have no increase in all fees. They even added R20 million (TUKS is a gold mine I tell you) to assist needy student as NSFAS is often overwhelmed. She agreed to disciplinary action against protesters from last week BUT as of today, Monday 26th, any misbehavior is punishable.
And of course somebody isn’t satisfied. So far it looks like SASCO and EFF are responsible for shutting down school today because 1 demand out of the 13 was not met.
I’m all for the revolution, but everything in time. We ALL have exams, and us science students, still have practicals!!! Rumor has it they are asking for free education. They can’t achieve that in one week. For goodness sake, a bottle of activated carbon is R2000 for about 100g. Free education is not a possibility, at least not today. Some things take time, naturally, and time allows for the best solutions. We are third world country after all.
