We welcome our two new beetles to the family! We are going to choose names for these two later. The blue death feigning beetle, is a species of darkling beetle native to the deserts of the Southwestern United States, mainly the Sonoran desert. This beetle has been known to feign death when threatened. These beetles secrete a wax-like substance that protects them from the sun and gives them their blue color. They do have an unusually long lifespan, living up to 17 years in captivity. 🐞Scientific classification is: Kingdom: Animalia Phylum: Arthropoda Class: Insecta Order: Coleoptera Family: Tenebrionidae Genus: Asbolus Species: A. verrucosus #bluedeathfeigningbeetle #feigningbeetle #bugs #insects #entomology #beetles #bugsofinstagram #insectsofinstagram #animalambassador #wizardofpawswildlife https://www.instagram.com/wizard_of_paws_wildlife/p/BwEQLaTgeZC/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1dtkhnib2m1pu
