The crying was insistent, enough so that Emmalyn was close to setting Aubrey down and walking out the door for a minute to gather some semblance of sanity. Being alone with a baby was hard, harder still when that baby had colic and it was witching hour to boot. Walking the length of her hallway for perhaps the hundredth time that night, Emma cursed herself before figuring fresh air might do Aubrey some good.
What was it they always said? Water and fresh air knocked a kid right out? And Emma had already tried the water route in the form of a bath. A very angry bath judging by her daughter's mood, but a bath nonetheless.
Making her way through the apartment complex and out into the open air, she began to restlessly pace the grass, bouncing and swaying as she walked. She even tried to bend over and set her daughter down on the grass...
Which only served to piss Aubrey off worse. Making Emma swear, the strength of the crying making her miss the sound of another approaching her..
