January 20, 2015 – Government4US (Gov4US) is the political and lobby arm of the Black Lives Matter movement and is incorporated as a nonprofit policy development and advocacyorganization based in New York City, New York
The Gov4US 2015 Legislative Agenda contains the first legislative act in history to address the issue of Police Brutality and Racial Profiling. Gov4US developed a comprehensive advocacy agenda referred to as the Fair and Equal Justice Act (“FEJA”). FEJA is designed to remedy decades of social injustice by institutionalizing oversight as a means of preventing the proliferation the inequities in the criminal justice system.
FEJA is composed of 5 key legislative and policy initiatives:
Establish Nation-wide Independent Citizen Complaint Review Boards
Establish Nation-wide Independent State Commissions on Prosecutorial Conduct
Nation-wide repeal of Stand-Your-Ground laws
Nation-wide enactment of civil laws to prevent Biased Based Profiling by law enforcement
Nation-wide enactment of criminal laws to address Police Brutality based on actual or perceived race, color, religion, or national origin of any person
FEJA is the new Civil Rights Act and is specifically designed to strengthen rule of law by creating more transparency, more outsight, and greater penalties for those who violent the law regardless of their roles in the legal justice system.
The legislative initiatives that Gov4US are advocating for will:
1. Build trust between law enforcement and minority communities
2. Keep more people in the community safe
3. Repair the image of our law enforcement officers throughout the country
Gov4US is a nonpartisan policy development and advocacy organization based on democratic ideals, with a goal of assuring fair and equal justice for all.
