Little headcanon of mine: some Felinids can manifest natural deeply-coloured pigmentations around the arch of the eyes, of the same striking metallic hues of butterfly's. These patches grow in intensity and coverage with the age of the individual, and Canids that go through HRT, can also grow the iridescent pigmentation. Since Felinids and Canids usually have earthy, brownish and pitch colours, these iridescent patches were once seen socially as a sign of great beauty and uniqueness for Felinids and Canids, that provoked in the past ages a spreaded use of bleaching and diying of the fur around the eyes to emulate this uncoventionally coloured skin/fur marks.

With time this expensive and detrimental fashion fell, and in the Etherium's present times the Felinids/Canids cosmetic look focuses more on temporary makeups, through the use of pencils and liquid pigments that emphasise the eyelids and eyelashes.
